THE MINING SECTOR – IT HASN’T BEEN FUN, HAS IT? PERHAPS YOU’VE BEEN A “SHORT SELLER?”

So much has been written about the demise of the mining sector in recent months. I bring nothing to the party apart from setting out the bare facts on a table.  I have just 3 observations to make – Firstly, mutterings that Anglo-American could drift out of FTSE 100, though up 13% today. Secondly look how well Randgold has done against the grain. Finally for Petropavlovsk – formerly Peter Hambro Mining – perhaps “For whom the bell tolls” could be appropriate!
